What is a farewell letter to suppliers and why do you need one?
A farewell letter is an unofficial letter that you send to suppliers to inform them that you are no longer working for a company and optionally inform that you are moving to another organization.
The purpose of the letter is to:
- Thank them for their business.
- Make sure that they stop contacting you regarding issues pertaining to your old company.
- Tell them about your replacement.
- Maintain a good relationship with them.
- Inform them about where you are going in order to continue doing business.
How to write a letter to inform suppliers that you are leaving?
- Express your appreciation for the cooperation and the business.
- Mark your last working day.
- Give name and contact information of your replacement.
- Optionally, provide the name your new employer.
Sample letter template:
Dear Valued Suppliers,
I regret to inform you that I am leaving my position at [XYZ Company] by the end of the month. I would like to thank you all for your business and the great relationship that we had all these years.
[Mr. John] will be replacing me at [Company Name] and will be assuming my duties accordingly. He may be contacted at [phone number and email].
