Sample Letter
To the “Financial Aid Committee”,
My name is [John Smith], year four [engineering] student.
Due to my exceptional grades and performance in year one, my scholarship request was approved back then and I was handed a three-year scholarship by the university to continue my studies at [college name].
Now that I am about to graduate, I am very much interested in continuing my studies and would like to pursue a Master’s degree in your reputed college. The problem is that I don’t have the funds to support this initiative, hence my letter.
My financial situation did not change much in recent years, but neither did my commitment, dedication, and academic appetite. My professors attest to that so do my grades.
I am already very grateful to the university for helping me in the last couple of years and I am in no position to ask for anything more, but since helping exceptional students is at the core of the university’s mission, I am inclined to make a case out of it.
I hereby kindly request from the committee to extend my scholarship to cover the Master’s program at [college name] and I promise to offer my unconditional dedication to contribute to the university and to scientific advancement in the capacity of my position in return.
Thank you very much for your time and understanding.
Sincerely,
